Pueblo Audio is always looking to provide solutions for its client's constantly changing needs. In an era of instant recalls and homogenous ITB production, busy mixers seek to bring higher caliber summing to their hybrid analog work flow. For this we present our newest product - HJ482 "SideWinder", a truly high-performance summing amp with routings and sonics not found in other products. "SideWinder" is offered in several different configurations so please scroll down for details.
HJ482 • Block Diagram
"SideWinder" consists of four transformer-less, unity gain 8x2 summing banks. Each 8x2 bank may be operated independently and/or internally routed to the last bank (using front panel Bussing Switches) to form 16x2, 24x2, or 32x2 matrixes. In this case, Bank-D acts as a Main Buss for all banks assigned to it. Each individual bank's output remains active to serve as a Sub Group for stems, FX send, parallel processing or whatever you might dream up. The first two channels of each Bank may be assigned as a stereo or mono pair using internal jumpers. This flexibility allows the user to scale SideWinder to a specific project's needs while controlling noise build-up (see diagrams below). Other features include a Mono Switch for Bank-A which "pans" its mix elements to the center of the stereo field. This follows a -3dB pan law and only affects the bussing to Bank-D. Bank-D is fitted with a -6dB Gain Switch which (when engaged) helps control signal level build-up common with larger mixes. And if you need floating outputs (or enjoy the taste of iron in your mix), Bank-D may be outfitted with bypass-able Output Transformers.

This variation of our JR2/2 mic preamp has been tailored for the needs of ADR stages. First, we replace the standard rotary gain switches with high quality potentiometers which move fluidly and are comfortable to the hand. The pot's gain range fits perfectly for riding vocal performances. Pot action does not introduce scrapping or other wiper noise while gain ramps smoothly without sudden, wild jumps at the top of its travel. Shooting extremely quiet talent can be a challenge so +15dB Gain Boost Switches bring total maximum gain to +75dB. This allows the capture of the faintest breathes and sighs with vanishingly low noise and great intelligibility. Integrated 35Hz high pass filters help control low frequency room tones without reaching up into the vocal range. The combo of this HPF with the JR2/2's low self-noise and outstanding EMI/EMF rejection mitigates structural and telecom based intrusions. Mixers have report very successful matching with production sound without fuss or extra work. The JR2/2-ADR's outstanding specifications are the same as the JR2/2 listed above. In addition to these core features we will also offer a Peak Limiter option. For practical ADR applications a "set it and forget it" approach was taken. The limiter's peak ceiling is adjusted just below the recorder's clipping level. When the signal reaches that ceiling it is held there with low distortion, preventing overload of the recorder's ADC. What is special about our limiter option is that it does not introduce additional circuitry to the signal path. Instead, the preamp's existing gain structure is controlled without loss. This minimal signal path preserves more of the talent's nuances for heightened drama.
This variation of our standard JR2/2 model has the exact same performance and specifications listed above but with more flexibility due to the added High Pass Filters and +15dB Gain Boost Switches.

Overload-proof headroom & low selectable gain eliminates need for pads.
Main Output: Balanced XLR drives any length of cable, punching through difficult loads like a jack-hammer through concrete.
Auxiliary Output: Separately buffered, quasi-balanced 1/4" TRS jack provides bonus functions as described below:
OLLA is a D.I. box featuring 3 modes of operation: PASSIVE, ACTIVE & SPEAKER. This hybrid approach makes OLLA a "swiss army knife" - ready to handle any source impedance or signal level. Stainless steel construction and over-designed protection circuitry make OLLA a dependable road-warrior. As the following specifications will confirm, Pueblo Audio brings performance levels unprecedented in a DI product.
As with all Pueblo designs, OLLA features a zero compromise approach to preserve every ounce of tone. At the heart of OLLA is a hefty Jensen transformer, custom specified for ultra-low distortion, massive headroom & laser-flat frequency response. Instruments are rendered beautifully with size and depth while holding a tight focus which sits easily in a mix. Rest assured knowing OLLA will handle any source you throw at it.
In addition to outstanding audio performance, Pueblo Audio also strives to make products that are easy to operate. OLLA is designed with a single, large rotary control which defines all operations of the unit. While many DI boxes are laden with tiny switches and ambiguous features, our elegant approach allows users to dial in the appropriate setting quickly, without fuss or confusion. The six modes are explained in detail below:
PASSIVE MODE: This traditional configuration offers pure Transformer action. Both Unbalanced *and* Balanced signals are accepted with vast headroom and fidelity. Recommended for Active Bass pick-ups, Keyboards, DJ-rigs, Computer outputs or other Pro-level and A/V sources. Re-Amping duties are also covered in this mode with the use of a simple adapter cable.
PASSIVE MODE-LIFT: Same as above but with the XLR's pin-1 "lifted". This can help break up hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Experiment with the grounded and lifted mode positions for lowest noise.
ACTIVE MODE - 2MΩ: A discrete, active Class-A stage is engaged ahead of the transformer. This presents a solid 2 mega-ohm load to the input. OLLA's active circuitry is energized with phantom power; no wall-warts or dying batteries to struggle with. On-board regulation maintains performance & headroom at all times. The LED indicates phantom is being received via the XLR. Good match for Guitar, Bass, Fender Rhoads or other Passive Pick-ups, pedal boards, etc..
ACTIVE MODE - 45MΩ: As above but now with the input impedance boosted to a towering 45 mega-ohms; an industry first! Ideal loading for Piezo, carbon and crystal pick-ups commonly found in Acoustic Instruments.
SPEAKER MODE: Here OLLA is intended to go between a head amplifier and its speaker cabinet. In this way an amp's tone can be tapped and recorded directly, without a microphone. Silent amp recording can also be facilitated in conjunction with an appropriate passive loading device.*Caution: always connect a proper speaker load via the THRU jack to prevent potential amplifier damage.
SPEAKER MODE-LIFT: Same as above but with the XLR's pin-1 "lifted". This can help break up hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Experiment with the grounded and lifted mode positions for lowest noise.
