The Antelope Audio Pure 2 is a professional mastering-grade 2-channel AD/DA converter and master clock designed for mastering, mixing, archiving and high-end studio monitoring. It supports audio resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and combines precision conversion with Antelope Audio's 4th-generation Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) technology.
The A/D section uses a Burr-Brown (TI) PCM4222 converter with optimized overload handling for smooth clipping behavior. For D/A conversion, Pure 2 uses a dual-DAC architecture, with separate DAC chips for the left and right channels to improve stereo imaging and signal-to-noise performance. The main D/A converter provides a dynamic range of 127 dB, while the A/D section offers 122 dB dynamic range.
Pure 2 also incorporates a dedicated high-quality headphone amplifier with its own D/A converter, allowing a secondary source to be monitored independently of the main outputs. Monitoring levels are controlled by an analog relay-based stepped attenuator, providing precise 0.05 dB control and a full bypass option for a transparent signal path.
For synchronization, Pure 2 features an oven-controlled master clock with 64-bit AFC jitter-management technology, eight Word Clock outputs and a 10 MHz Atomic Clock input. AES/EBU, S/PDIF, TOSLINK and USB 2.0 connectivity provide flexible integration into professional digital studio environments.
