Product information "Neumann KU 100"
The Neumann KU 100 is a professional dummy head binaural stereo microphone designed to create highly realistic three-dimensional recordings for headphone playback. Two omnidirectional condenser capsules are positioned inside artificial ears, allowing recordings to capture spatial cues in a way that closely resembles natural human hearing. Despite using only two audio channels, the resulting sound image can provide convincing horizontal, vertical and depth localization.
The KU 100 is suitable for immersive music recording, audio drama, classical productions, ambient recording and acoustic documentation. Its recordings are also compatible with loudspeaker playback, producing a conventional stereo image with enhanced spaciousness and depth.
Its transformerless electronics provide low noise and distortion while supporting sound pressure levels of up to 135 dB SPL, or 145 dB SPL with the -10 dB preattenuation activated. A three-position low-cut control offers linear, 40 Hz and 150 Hz settings, and both the pad and filter operate simultaneously on both channels.
The KU 100 offers several powering options, including 48 V phantom power, internal AA batteries and the supplied external power supply. Audio output is available through a balanced XLR 5 stereo connection and unbalanced BNC outputs. The system is supplied with essential connection accessories and a protective aluminium case.
