Product information "Cranborne Audio Brick Lane MC4"
The Cranborne Audio Brick Lane MC4 is a professional 4-channel analogue Modal PWM dynamics processor designed for tracking, mixing, bus processing and mastering. Housed in a 2U 19-inch rackmount chassis, it combines four channels of PWM compression and gating with flexible Mono, Stereo, Mid/Side, Series, Dual-Band and De-Esser operating configurations.
At the heart of the MC4 is Cranborne Audio's Modal PWM Compression architecture. The signal path remains fully analogue without digital conversion, while digital control provides detailed parameter adjustment, repeatability and recall. Six distinct compression modes – VELVET, FLOAT, SMASH, TAME, GLUE and POLISH – provide different compression behaviours ranging from smooth vintage-inspired dynamics to aggressive FET-style processing and mastering-grade limiting.
The proprietary Stress control introduces mode-dependent harmonic saturation, allowing the character to range from subtle warmth and density to more pronounced analogue coloration. The ENIGMA section provides deeper control over parameters normally fixed in analogue compressor designs, including compression knee, attack and release weighting, detector behaviour and high-frequency emphasis.
Brick Lane MC4 also incorporates Cranborne Audio's Analogue Lookahead technology for extremely fast transient control. In POLISH mode, Analogue Lookahead enables zero-processing-delay operation at 20 kHz, making it suitable for precision limiting and transient management.
Flexible routing expands the MC4 beyond conventional compression. Series Mode chains two dynamics stages internally, while Dual-Band Mode divides the signal into independently processed low- and high-frequency bands. Mid/Side processing enables separate dynamics control of centre and stereo-width information, while the dedicated De-Esser mode provides analogue lookahead-based control of sibilance.
Each of the four channels also provides a bypassable balanced TRS insert and access to assignable external sidechain sources. Hardware control is complemented by a 5-inch full-colour TFT display, LED-ring encoders and remote control via USB or Ethernet. The included control plugin enables DAW-based parameter control, preset storage and recall.
