The Pinnacle Microphones Fat Top Black Stereo Pair is a stereo set of passive short-ribbon microphones designed for a warm, rich and rounded sound. Each microphone uses a 99.99% pure aluminum ribbon with a symmetrical figure-8 polar pattern, providing consistent front and rear pickup together with a deep side null for effective source isolation.
The Fat Top's short-ribbon design naturally smooths the high-frequency response, making it suitable for sources that benefit from a fuller and less aggressive tonal character. The microphones can be used individually or together as a stereo pair for recording instruments, ensembles and room ambience.
With their bidirectional figure-8 pattern, the two microphones can be positioned in a Blumlein configuration for stereo room and ensemble recording. The pair is supplied with two shock mounts, a dedicated Blumlein stereo bar and an aluminum carrying case. The stereo sets are assembled as a set by the manufacturer; consecutive serial numbers do not necessarily indicate a matched pair.
