The Solid State Logic XL-Desk with 16 E Series EQ Modules is a modern take on the classic analog studio console. Designed for tracking and mixing engineers who want an authentic analog workflow within a DAW-centered studio, XL-Desk delivers SSL’s renowned sound without the need for integrated DAW control or automation.
In many ways, it’s a traditional 24 into 8 analog console, but equipped with a wide array of advanced features. It offers 20 channel strips—16 dual-input mono (switchable between main input and DAW return) and 4 stereo channels. The first eight channels feature SSL’s Variable Harmonic Drive (VHD) mic preamps.
This version comes loaded with 16 E Series EQ modules, while slots 17 & 18 contain the legendary SSL Stereo Bus Compressor (hard-wired to Mix A). A built-in 18-slot 500-series rack allows flexible analog processing. Four Mix Busses (A, B, C, D) provide versatile routing and summing flexibility, while direct outputs on every channel enable convenient stem printing.
A fully-featured monitoring section, bass management, dual foldback systems with talkback, and a built-in Listen Mic input with a classic compressor circuit provide everything needed for professional tracking, mixing, and summing — all with SSL’s signature SuperAnalogue™ sound quality.
